An exciting day for Thor’s Hope Foundation and Performance K9 Training and Boarding. Our firehouse dog, Pax, a three year old Labrador Retriever, was gifted to the Orange County Fire Authority.
Thor’s Hope Foundation privately funds the cost and training of the facility dogs, and, Performance K9 Training, trains the dogs.
In 2019, we launched the Firehouse Project, a grassroots effort, after learning how our first responders, including firefighters, are faced with occupational stresses from the job. When we learned about this, that was our call to action — to help our firefighters.
When Wade of Orange County Fire Authority visited us the first time at Performance K9 Training, he met with a few of our dogs. One of them was Pax and it’s safe to say that Pax picked Wade and their bond was immediate. Pax has a wonderful temperament and demeanor. He has top-notch obedience skills, performs those skills under distraction, and remains polite in all situations.
Wade and Pax will go on to do amazing work in their Peer Support K-9 Program.
